deSILVA'S says: A mild chorizo-style cured sausage packed full of flavour. Slice thinly and eat as a snack or fry off to intensify and add to soups, stews, omelettes or green vegetable dishes to add depth and character. 

Linguiça is a thin and milder version of the traditional Portuguese chouriço.

A mixture of lean and fatty pork meat, seasoned with garlic red-pepper paste and salt and smoked at the fumeiro for between 1.5 and 3 months.

The meat comes from the acorn fed, black Iberian pig bred in Barrancos, a remote area on the far eastern border of Alentejo.
